Below is a summary of our attendance policy and procedures. For full details, please refer to the complete attendance policy (which includes information on register marking).

We are committed to ensuring excellent attendance by:

  • Setting the expectation that attendance and punctuality should be 100%.

  • Taking early action to address patterns of absence or any students identified as ‘at risk’ due to frequent absences.

Reporting an Absence
(Instructions can be found at the bottom of the page.)

· Using Student Portal or Parent Portal

Reporting to Parents

  • Parents/carers will receive a text message notifying them of any lesson absences.

  • Parents/carers will be informed of overall attendance through biannual reports.

  • Parents/carers can view attendance information through the Parent Portal (instructions below).

Register Marking

  • Students present in a scheduled learning session will be marked as "present," which is recorded as a positive mark.

  • A student who arrives late will be recorded as late, with the number of minutes delayed noted. While this is marked positively, repeated lateness will be addressed.

  • If a student is absent from a lesson, they will be marked as absent.

  • If a student is attending agreed work experience, they will receive a positive mark.

  • If a student is sick and the College is notified, an 'S' mark will be used, but this is still a negative mark.

  • If a student arrives more than 70 minutes late, a 'J' mark will be recorded, indicating they are on-site but late. This is considered a negative mark.

  • If the College has been notified of a medical appointment (e.g., hospital or doctor’s appointment), an ‘M’ will be used on the register, though this remains a negative mark.
