Expectations of students onsite
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we move towards the winter break, I would just like to take this opportunity to remind you of the expectations that we have of students onsite. All students have a timetable that includes a variety of learning sessions, all 1.5hrs in duration and a maximum of four sessions per day. We expect all students to attend every single lesson on time.
Students are only expected onsite when they have timetabled sessions, if they have a day with no timetabled lessons then we ask students not to come into college and this time should be used for home study and independent learning.
Students that have timetabled sessions in periods 1 and 2 (before lunch) we allow onsite from 8.20am. We serve a free breakfast for all students until 8.50am. The first lesson starts at 9.00am.
If students finish after period 2 (12.20pm), the expectation is for students to leave straight after lunch with lunch finishing at 1.00pm. We ask that students do not remain onsite when all their lessons have finished. They need to complete homework or projects at home.
Students are required to wear their ID photocards on a lanyard (supplied by the college) at all times when onsite. This is for everyone’s safety. If a student comes to college without their ID, they will not be allowed onsite.
If a student loses their ID, there is a £2.50 charge for this. Those students whose attendance drops below 90% in the next term will be taken through the attendance process and this may lead to being considered for withdrawal from the college. I hope you can support us by reinforcing this with your young person.
I wish you an enjoyable break and best wishes for the new year.
Geoff Osborne, Principal
