Progression Promise 2021

An Update for SHC Students Returning in September 2021

Dear Student,

As part of our Progression Promise, you will be automatically enrolled onto the next level of your course, unless you have indicated to your tutor that you wish to do another course, or you are leaving the college.  This means that you do not need to make any applications or have any additional interviews.

This is subject to us verifying your course grades for this academic year from the exam board, guidance from teachers as to your performance and any English or maths qualification you may have taken.

Over the next few weeks, we will be contacting you via email to confirm the course that you have been enrolled onto for the upcoming academic year. This email will also contain information on induction and your start dates.

If you have not specified to your course tutor or pastoral wellbeing tutor that you would like to change your course or pathway, you will be enrolled based on the following:

  • If you are enrolled on a Level 1 course, you will automatically progress onto the Level 2 in the same area.
For example, a student on Level 1 Sport will advance to Level 2 Sport.

  • Students on a Level 2 course will automatically progress onto the Level 3 in the same area. For example, a student on Level 2 Sport will advance to Level 3 Sport.

  • Students on the GCSE Study Programme will be able to choose their desired pathway (e.g. BTEC or A-Levels) in advance. Placement on a course will be subject to GCSE results.

  • Students on a Level 3 Year 1/A-Level Year 1 will automatically progress onto Level 3 Year 2/A-Level Year 2.
For example, a student on Level 3 Sport Year 1 will advance to Level 3 Sport Year 2.

Progression within the college is dependent on good behaviour, good attendance and upon confirmation of grades from the relevant exam board.

Once you receive confirmation of your course for next year, if you would like to change it, or you think there has been a mistake, there will be a link in the email to a form that you can complete to let us know of any changes you would like to make.

If you do not receive an email confirmation by the 14th July, please contact admissions@shc.ac.uk
