
Overview
The Technical Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care has been designed to enable learners to access Higher Education or assist with progression into the workplace. The qualification also supports progression to further learning in related subject areas at Level 4 and above. This qualification covers a wide range of key subject areas in health and social care including; Anatomy and Physiology, Research skills and employment. Learners must be at least 16 years old or above and will be required to attend placement in a real work environment to support their learning. Examples of appropriate settings which could support learners:
• Residential Care Home
• Nursing Home
• Day Centre
• Children's Centre
• Health Centre
Learners will usually be able to achieve the Certificate in two years. This qualification promotes high-quality care and support and has been mapped to the standards within the Care Certificate. The qualification also supports progression to further learning in related subject areas at Level 4 and above.
Course Content
Mandatory units and requirements from Level 3 Certificate in Health and Social Care, plus the following units:
1) Empowerment in Health and Social Care
2) Protection of Children, Young People and Adults in Health and Social Care
3) Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care - External Assessment EXAM
4) Research Skills for Health and Social Care
5) Personal and Professional Development
All units in this qualification are internally graded A* - D except for the Externally Assessed Exam. There is also a Synoptic Assessment, which is externally graded A* - D. All learners must attend placement to achieve the Extended Diploma.

To enrol in the NCFE CACHE Technical Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care course, you’ll need:

Grade 4 or above in English and Maths, and 4 other GCSE subjects or achieved Level 3 Certificate in Health & Social Care
