Overview
NVQ Level 2 & 3 Diploma in Food & Beverage Service
This study programme is designed for students who wish to work within the hospitality & customer service industry hotels, bars, restaurants and airlines.
On completion of this programme you may progress to a higher level programme or commence a career in the hospitality and customer service industry hotels, bars, restaurants and airlines.
Course Content
Topics Covered
Working within our professional and realistic working environment; City View restaurant, you will cover a variety of food & beverage modules; these may include:
- Provide a silver service
- Prepare and serve cocktails
- Serve food at the table
- Work effectively as part of a hospitality team
- Provide a buffet & carvery service
Practicals
Level 2 & 3 Hospitality & Catering students will have practical lessons 2 mornings a week. As part of the study programme students will undertake work-experience. In addition there will be half-termly visits to Hospitality establishments.
Exams
NVQ programmes are assessment based qualifications, students are continually assessed across the academic year; both in practical & theory. In addition students will work towards achieving GCSE in maths & English.
Requirements
Ideally, potential candidates must have completed the taster programme (this runs every June/July).
Candidate’s entry is on the basis of:
- 1:1 interview with one of our Hospitality & Catering Lecturers.
- Minimum L1 English
- Minimum L1 Maths
- GCSE English & Maths Grade 4+ for Level 3.
Careers
After achieving a Diploma at NVQ 2 you could progress to NVQ 3 or choose to pursue a career in the Hospitality & Customer Service industry.
