Overview

Students will develop an understanding of a broad range of issues relevant to the sector, including:

  • the creative economy
  • the individual in the creative industries
  • cultural context and vocabulary
  • audience and consumer needs
  • legal and regulatory requirements
  • professional standards and conduct in the workplace
  • equality, diversity and inclusion requirements
  • research skills
  • project methodology and administration
  • continued professional development

Course Content

Core component:

· software:

· word processing (for example, Microsoft (MS) Word, Google Docs)

· presentation (for example, MS PowerPoint, Google Slides)

· spreadsheet (for example, MS Excel, Google Sheets)

· project management (for example, MS Excel, MS Project)

· internet access

· access to a range of research resources (for example, online, books, journals)

· access to hardware with appropriate specifications (for example, PC, laptops, mobile devices)

In addition to the core content, each student will also complete at least one module of occupation-specific content.

The specialisms available in the Media, Broadcast and Production T Level are:

  • creative media technician
  • events and venues technician
  • content creation and production

Requirements

5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including Grade 5 in Maths and Grade 5 in English Language.
