Course Content

The City & Guilds Diploma in Engineering Level 1 covers the following key areas: 

Health and Safety: 

Gain essential knowledge of workplace safety, including hazard identification, safe working practices, and the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE). 

Handling of Tools and Equipment: 

Learn the proper use, care, and maintenance of hand tools and machinery, ensuring effective and safe operation in the engineering environment. 

Metal Fabrication: 

Develop skills in working with various metals, including measuring, cutting, shaping, and preparing materials for projects. 

Joining of Metals (Welding): 

Explore fundamental welding techniques, such as MIG and TIG welding, to join metals securely. Understand different types of welds and their applications in fabrication tasks. 

Requirements

To enrol in the Level 1 Diploma in Engineering course, you’ll need: 

  • 3 GCSEs between Grades 4-9, including Maths and English at Grade 3 and above 

  • A keen interest in engineering
