We have designed a programme that allows you to start up your own business, with the support of teachers and business-minded staff individuals.
We have a store front located on site, for students to explore their business ideas and ventures, whilst understanding the roles, statistics and processes for running their own shop.
We will support any idea. Yes you heard correctly! It's not called the Y.E.S Scheme for no reason. Whether you set up a sweet shop, art gallery, stationery shop, car wash or even a mobile beauty service for classes and free periods... we will support you and anything you put your mind to.
Building any business from scratch is a challenge and making mistakes is common. Keep your head up, take on constructive advice, ask questions, use all the resources given to you and don't stop giving it 100%!

How does the SHC Y.E.S Scheme work?
Where do I register?
Registration is held at the Student Services Reception desk in the Discovery Building on Level 3.
You will be given a registration form to fill out and return to Student Services on a first come first served basis, so register as soon as possible to secure an earlier date.
Opportunities for new business ventures are every 2 weeks, unless otherwise specified.
What times can the shop be open?
The shop can be open from Monday – Friday, 8am - 4pm unless specified otherwise.
We also have a no lateness and absence to lesson policy, which means the business could be taken away from you under these guidelines.
Bills, Performance Account and earnings.
To kick-start your business you only need £10 to rent the store each week and a £5 deposit for key loss and damages.
You will be filing three separate accounts over the 2-week rental period and don’t worry, you will not have to do this alone. This will be explained to you and your business partners before starting the business and support will be provided throughout.
100% of the profit is yours after bills and loan repayment.

If you and your business partners are not in a financial position to afford startup costs.
You can still register to start your own business and the college will help to find solutions to deliver your idea proposal.
