Being a part of the Shooters Hill family means you’ll always be encouraged to exceed your own expectations, and our sports academies are living, breathing proof of this in action.
Recently, our Boxing Academy students were invited by Matchroom Sport to their Fight Day 5K Run Out.
Matchroom Sport is a promotional company for sporting events; Eddie Hearn is the chairman and was in attendance for this exciting opportunity. For those who don't know, Eddie Hearn is a professional promoter for many world champion boxers through Matchroom Sport, so as you can imagine, this was of particular importance for our students to attend. At the end of the event, he gifted our boxers a souvenir to take home, cementing the idea in their heads that their goals are achievable and never out of reach.
Orchestrated by Hearn and his accomplice, Frank Smith, the run included a special appearance from Terence Crawford, a truly inspirational professional boxer from America who has been boxing since he was 7 years old. Unsurprisingly, our students came first in the main event, side by side with Crawford himself, who is the pound-for-pound world champion in four different weight classes and typically trains with Floyd Mayweather.
In other news, our Volleyball Academy students have also been excelling in more ways than one. In Team A, Abdiqaliq and Taeno won all their matches 2-0, propelling them into the Silver League of the National Competitions.
In Team B, Rashid and Elisha won all their matches 2-1 in the regional pool, putting them in top place and into the Bronze League.
Without the talent of our students, SHC would not be half the incredible college it is today. We pride ourselves on the celebration of our student's successes, ensuring that we support them in every way possible to achieve their dreams and aspire for more.
