Dear Parent/Carer(s)

Re:  End of Term Arrangements in response to Covid-19 Staff Absences

Having examined the level of staff absence due to an increasing number of staff and students requiring to self-isolate, we have made the decision to move to remote learning for all students, apart from those with an Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP) who have not been told to isolate, vulnerable students and those who have not got access to remote learning technology, with effect from Friday 10th December 2021.  All teaching will be delivered remotely from Friday 10th until Friday 17th December at 12.20pm.

Classes are postponed tomorrow morning, except Inclusive learning classes and those students with an EHCP, to allow staff to prepare for online delivery.  However, they will resume online at 1.05pm tomorrow afternoon.

There are a number of public examinations taking place next week in a range of subjects and these will go ahead as planned with social distancing measures in place.  If this applies to your young person, they will be notified by the end of the week and reminded via text message 24 hours before the exam takes place.

Any student on work experience should continue to undertake their placements in the usual way and refer to any guidance provided by the employer.  Staff will visit the placement as planned.

If your young person is not on site and entitled to Free School Meals, food vouchers will be sent to the student SHC email address and can be used at any Tesco store.  If the student is on site, food will be available at the usual outlets.

It is important to note, you should contact the Designated Safeguarding Lead, Alex Rolfe alex.rolfe@shc.ac.uk or 0208 319 9724 if you have any safeguarding concerns during this period.

On behalf of Governors, staff and myself we wish you a very safe and Merry Christmas and we will see all students back in College on Wednesday 5th January 2022.

Yours sincerely
