Sport students have been attending sessions with visitors in their last few lessons, learning new skills for their sports pathway and beyond.

These sessions are based around giving advice, motivating and informing students on what is available for them after college and how they can progress.

Entry to Higher Education

Bob was speaking to the students on how to enter Canterbury Christchurch University and the Kent Police Force.

He started off with an ice breaker activity where the students were shown three scenarios. Students had to use their initiative, work together and use their problem solving skills to discuss how they would overcome each scenario.

To inspire the students further, he spoke about a past student who has gone on to University and is now in her third year.

Working with Cray Wanderers

A coach from the Cray Wanderers also came in to speak about the qualities and attributes that you should have being a sports coach.

This included expanding the students’ knowledge on time keeping, enthusiasm and the qualifications needed to become a sports coach.

As well as informing them on what it is like to be a sport coach, they will also be taking students on work experience; the perfect opportunity for the group to discuss what the expectations are and what the employer will be looking for from the initial interview phone call.

Cray Wanderers have been regularly visiting and working with students from a range of departments, teaching them key skills whilst also having fun - students are keen to work with them again in the future.
